Choir I: Foundations of Choral Singing – High School

The fall semester focuses on developing each student's vocal technique, music literacy, and ensemble skills. Students will learn to sing in harmony, read and interpret choral scores, and develop good rehearsal habits. The choir will rehearse and perform a selection of repertoire from various musical styles and periods. Emphasis is placed on tone production, blend, breath control, and musical expression.
Key Learning Objectives:

• Read and interpret SATB choral scores
• Sing in two- to four-part harmony
• Understand and apply music theory and sight-reading skills
• Rehearse and perform repertoire with attention to dynamics, articulation, and phrasing
• Exhibit proper stage presence and concert etiquette
