Choir I: Foundations of Vocal Technique – Middle School

In the Fall semester of Choir I: Foundations of Vocal Technique, students will explore the fundamentals of vocal technique, music reading, and ensemble singing. Emphasis is placed on building healthy singing habits, developing pitch matching, ear training, and learning to sing in unison and simple harmony. Repertoire will include age-appropriate music from a variety of genres.

• Understand and demonstrate correct posture, breathing, and vocal production
• Read basic rhythmic and melodic notation 
• Sing in unison and simple 2-part harmony
• Follow a conductor and perform with an ensemble
• Demonstrate concert etiquette and stage presence
